Filled with evil power, you may restore any Endurance Points that you have lost up to this point in your adventure. In addition to its other powers, Helshezag is much more powerful when wielded in the Darklands themselves. When in the city of Helgedad, you may add an additional 2 points to your Combat Skill in addition to whatever will be listed. This will not be noted again, so make a note of it on your action chart. You are already aware that this sword is much more powerful in your hands than in the hands of another, its balance attuned to the darkness inside your soul.

Its history is shrouded in mystery, and because of this, you cannot tell if you hold the original Helshezag, or a remake created by Naar. It was long thought destroyed when it was taken from Lone Wolf, but good constantly seems to mistake transportation of evil for the destruction of evil. A mere vanishment does not mean its destruction, for evil manifests itself in many forms. Naar, though your deity, is not known for truth, and you do not know if what is being revealed through the blade to your mind is the actual fact, or a fiction to mask reality by the King of Darkness.

Zapped out of Aon to the Plane of Darkness by the most mystic and powerful arts of Darkness, Naar once again had the blade at his disposal. Originally the sword of a champion of Darkness, the Dark Lord Kraagenskull, Naar decided to increase the sword's potential in the case it ever returned to the world of Magnamund.

Many other powers lie dormant within, one of which is the ability to teleport using the Plane of Darkness as the key. The blade actually bears a shard of the Plane of Darkness, so apparent to your eyes. It is a great risk Naar has taken, for in bringing a portion of the Plane of Darkness here, he stands the chance of disrupting the balance and bringing in the full fury of Ishir's strength. His gamble is that she will not dare tip the balance, for fear that she will destroy all chances she might have of winning in an out-and-out war.

As long as you can visualize your destination, you can travel there. However, there are limits to this ability. The greatest power of the blade is to momentarily release the full power of the Plane of Darkness upon the inhabitants of this plane. Much like the Sommerswerd's ability to release the power of the Sun, this has the power to release the an equivalent burst of power. The radius of this is dependent on the power of its user, and in your case, is quite vast. It is this power that should enable you to defeat your enemies back in Helgedad. However, though useful against those ordinary folk of this world, it is quite possible that others of greater power will be able to withstand such an onslaught. It is this power that Naar sought to instill in the blade, to counteract the great strength the Kai find with their own Sommerswerd. It is his own way of evening up the odds, and perhaps the key to why Ishir has not interfered, for it inherently equalizes the balance.

You are so caught up in the sword's essence that you almost do not detect the presence behind you, one of great power and strength. Warned by the sword you spin around, ready to face yet another foe, but you are unexpected for the attack he unleashes.

If you possess the skill of Mindshield, Turn to 10.

If you do not possess this skill, turn to 41.
